Schools Workshops

Workshops & Assemblies

Blaze offers both full-assemblies & workshops for primary & secondary schools. Workshops are solution-focussed, delivering realistic & practical skills to young people on how to navigate the complex social dynamics of the topic in question. Each workshop is sensitively delivered from a trauma-informed perspective & calls on real-life stories to communicate the message of raising personal safety & preventing risk & harm to children.

Anti-Bullying:

Most children & young people want to know how to respond to bullies effectively rather than just ‘ignoring’ the hurtful remarks. Blaze anti-bullying workshops are designed to teach children how to be proactive and assertive, calm & confident.
Content includes: body language & non-verbal communication, how to de-escalate an argument, how to handle verbal bullying – what to say & how to react, key takeaways on raising self-worth, mental resilience & a positive mindset.

Anti-Bullying sessions are available as both 1-hour workshops & whole assemblies.

Personal Safety:

Personal safety incorporates a huge range of aspects & the workshop content varies widely between primary & secondary ages. To give a brief overview, topics covered can include, understanding intuition and making safe choices, situational awareness & risk taking, safe travel, safety online and, for secondary ages, practical skills on how to stay safe at parties when there may be drink spiking and drug & alcohol use among peers.

Personal Safety sessions are available as both 1-hour workshops & whole assemblies.

Self-Defence:

Blaze have a proven track record of delivering self-defence training safely, sensitively and effectively in schools. We don’t just teach physical skills, we also incorporate ‘theory’ such as, reasonable force & the law, violence & it’s consequences, red flags in relationships, and ‘soft skills’ such as conflict management & de-escalation. This intensive & in-depth training also includes the impact of trauma & how to strengthen mental health & access further support.

Self-defence workshops are active, engaging & empowering and, additional to the physical elements of self-defence and how to defend against bigger & stronger attackers, we aim to fire up a powerhouse of energy in each & every student so they feel strong & confident in their skills.

Self-defence courses are available as intensive 3-hour workshops or as weekly classes.

Kick-Boxing

Blaze delivers dynamic high-energy classes designed to build strength & stamina. Sessions incorporate martial arts based exercises & warm-up drills, balance techniques, line work, movement, evasion, blocking and hand & kick pad-work drills focussing on stress release, fitness & raising self-esteem. Sessions also include gentle stretching to aid recovery & range of motion.

Kick-Boxing sessions are available as 1-hour workshops or weekly classes booked for a set-period.
